#66 Interpol - Mammoth
Interpol’s second offering from Our Love to Admire comes in the shape of 'Mammoth'. Revolving around the line “Spare me the suspense" it seems that this is exactly what the band have done - forgetting that their previous successes relied upon their retro appeal and eye for a sinister tune. Mammoth simply trudges through, avoiding anything like the epic soundscapes championed in recent years by bands such as Bloc Party or Interpol’s New York counterparts, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Doubtless is the fact that Interpol have fans, and their November UK dates are their biggest yet. But Mammoth doesn’t really offer up anything new; this is something the band will have to address if they are to maintain their ascent to the top.

In the meantime, some other new singles out now:
Hot Hot Heat - Let me in boring as usual: these canadians should do something different
Babyshambles - the Delivery nothing new
Gossip - Jealous girl catchy as usual
Hard-FI - Suburban Knights it seems a B-side from their debut album. actually the only good thing in this band is that they're from England
Kaiser Chiefs - Angry Mob boring. nothing new for the Leeds based band
the Dead 60s - Stand Up I remember them being more powerful. probably they turned in a gay band... god knows
Late Of The Pier - Bathroom Gurgle I cannot understand why they're so overrated
